Moving crate hire is a reusable alternative to buying cardboard moving boxes. Crate Crew delivers strong 64L plastic moving crates to your address, you use them to pack and move your belongings, and we collect them when your hire is complete.

You may also hear this type of service described as plastic moving box hire, plastic box rental, moving crate rental or reusable moving box hire.

Choose your moving crate package online, select your hire period and delivery details, and complete your booking. We deliver your crates, you pack and move, then we collect the equipment when your hire is finished.

Our standard 2-week hire packages are:

• Mini Move – 10 crates: £50
• Small Move – 20 crates: £90
• Medium Move – 30 crates: £120
• Large Move – 40 crates: £150

Delivery and collection are included within the applicable service area.

You can add additional weeks when booking for an additional 40% off base package price, per extra week.

We do offer 1 week bookings at a 10% discounted price compared to the 2 week hire. This is due to delivery and collection costs making anything cheaper untenable.

Our standard hire period is 2 weeks. Additional weeks can be added when booking and are charged at 40% of the original package price per additional week.

If you need to extend an existing hire, contact us as soon as possible. Extensions are subject to availability.

The right number depends on the size of your property, how much you own and what you plan to pack.

Our packages give an approximate outline of the size of move that can typically cover. But of course some people might have far more belongings than others.

We offer packages of 10, 20, 30 and 40 crates.

Each Crate Crew moving crate has a 64-litre capacity and external dimensions of approximately 600mm × 400mm × 365mm.

The crates have a production load of up to 30kg when stacked up to five crates high. For safer manual handling, we recommend keeping each packed crate to 25kg or less.

Our reusable moving crates are made from both durable recycled polypropylene (the black box itself) and virgin polypropylene (the yellow lids) and are manufactured in the UK.

They feature rigid solid walls, integrated carrying handles and an attached lids.

Reusable plastic moving crates offer several practical advantages over cardboard boxes. They are rigid, stackable, water resistant and arrive ready to use without needing to be built or taped together.

Once your move is complete, we collect them, so you’re not left with cardboard boxes to flatten, store or dispose of.

Our plastic moving crates are water resistant, making them less vulnerable to rain, damp and spills than cardboard boxes.

They are not designed to be submerged in water or left exposed to severe weather for extended periods.

Yes. Our moving crates have attached lids, and write-on label cards can be used to identify contents or destination rooms.

Crates can also be secured using tamper-evident security seals, providing a visible indication if a seal has been broken or removed. 

Both of these are included in all packages.

Selected packages include moving dollies, which allow several stacked crates to be moved together more easily.

No. Our Mini Move package is available within a smaller local delivery area due to the package size and delivery costs.

Our Small, Medium and Large Move packages are available throughout our full published delivery area.

Yes. Delivery and collection are included within the applicable service area for your chosen package.

Yes. We can deliver the crates to your current property and collect them from your new property, provided both addresses are within an area we can service.

Our typical delivery and collection availability is:

Monday–Saturday: 11am–8pm

Sunday: 5pm–8pm

Once you’ve booked, we’ll contact you to arrange suitable delivery and collection time windows. This allows us to plan our local delivery routes efficiently while arranging a time that works for you.

The time selected when booking represents the beginning of a one-hour arrival window.

For example, if you select 2:00pm, we aim to arrive between 2:00pm and 3:00pm.

Yes. Someone must be present for both the delivery and collection for us to be able to provide our service.

If we cannot complete a scheduled visit because nobody is available, access cannot be provided or the equipment is not ready, an additional visit charge may apply in accordance with our Terms & Conditions.

Contact us as soon as possible if you know there may be a problem with your scheduled visit.

Our 64L moving crates are suitable for many everyday household and office belongings, including clothes, books, kitchen items, toys, files and other general possessions.

Do not pack hazardous substances, uncontained liquids or anything likely to damage or seriously contaminate the crates.

Normal wear and tear is expected. However, customers are responsible for the hired equipment during the rental period.

Lost, stolen or damaged equipment may result in a replacement or damage charge in accordance with our Terms & Conditions.

You don’t need to professionally clean the crates. Simply empty them and return them in a reasonably clean condition.

Excessive contamination or soiling may result in an additional cleaning charge in accordance with our Terms & Conditions.

Yes. Our reusable plastic moving crates can also be suitable for office and workplace moves.

For larger commercial requirements, contact Crate Crew before booking so we can confirm availability and what equipment you may need.

If you require larger amounts than shown on the website we are more than happy to accommodate and negotiate a price where possible.
